counterpoint

.

i was lukewarm on delphic when i first heard their single 'doubt' a couple months back...they fall somewhere between cut copy and bloc party (who they've toured with), but i didn't find anything that really distinguished them from the innocuous sound of friendly fires (who they've also toured with). i now see the nme blog made this same comparison - only in a positive light - when they described new single 'counterpoint', which i love. anyway, judge for yourself from the kinda-boring vid above (directed by handz, and starring some girl that looks a little like joanna newsom).

prom night

is it possible to be any creepier than the original? probably not, but this is pretty hypnotic, and scary, and quite amazing. vid by cornelius tatum, for linus love's 'prom night'

local natives

airplanes by local natives.

The desk where you sit inside of a
frame made of wood
I keep those chopsticks you had from when
you taught abroad in Japan

I love it all so much
I call
I want you back

I did not know you as well
as my father knew you
every question you took the
time to sit and look it up in the
encyclopedia

I love it all so much
I call I want you back

It sounds like we
would of had a great deal to say
to each other
I bet when I leave
my body for the sky the wait will
be worth it

tommy boy

between cfcf and the latest from bell orchestre, i'm in good shape on the instrumental front for the time being. this infectious vid for cfcf's 'you hear colours', directed by tommy boy, draws me in every time, and makes me all lonely like a long distance runner. and is that 3-d in there?

a love letter to the 80s

as much as i miss the 80s, this vid for futurecop's 'karate kids', directed by tnuc, makes me grateful i got to live through them at least once...and watch lots of movies in the process.

this also puts me over the top on seeing futurecop! the next time they come through town...even if it means going it alone.
