walking on a dream

jason bentley played 'walking on a dream' by empire of the sun - which seems a 21st century answer to billy ocean's 'caribbean queen' - a few months ago and after a few failed attempts to find these guys online, i completely forgot until tonight, when i saw the vid on hipster runoff.

i love the comparisons between the character in this vid (luke steele) and mugatu from zoolander. hilarious. it's also kinda sweet that the guy from pnau (nick littlemore) makes up the other half of this duo.

Walking on a dream
How can I explain
Talking to myself
Will I see again

We are always running for the thrill of it thrill of it
Always pushing up the hill searching for the thrill of it
On and on and on we are calling out and out again
Never looking down I’m just in awe of what's in front of me

Is it real now
When two people become one
I can feel it
When two people become one

Thought I'd never see
The love you found in me
Now it’s changing all the time
Living in a rhythm where the minutes working overtime

Catch me I'm falling down
Catch me I'm falling down

Don't stop just keep going on
I'm your shoulder lean upon
So come on deliver from inside
All we got is tonight that is right till first light

brazilian girls = good time

i'm digging 'new york city' - the new brazilian girls album. nothing groundbreaking here, but this is good, fun music.

'good time' is my (late) summer anthem...

punk rock girl

sometimes i wonder if my life would have been any different if i hadn't chickened out of lip-syncing 'punk rock girl' by the dead milkmen at the spring hill elementary talent show in the sixth grade. i still love this song. thanks to little radio for reminding me.

house of cards

an innovative vid from radiohead...surprise surprise. this also happens to be my favorite track off the album.

the write-up from pitchfork:

Made without video cameras through the use of Geometrics Informatics, a system which 'employs structured light to capture 3D images at close proximity,' and laser-based Velodyne Lidar, director James Frost creates a mathematic virtual world for Radiohead's first official promo music video clip from In Rainbows.

love is noise

woohoo woohoo woohoo...big sound out of the verve on their new single. remix friendly. i don't really get the video though...seems like 4 vids they pieced together. new album, forth, out aug 19.

...and on the topic of the verve, go back and listen to 'a storm in heaven' sometime. the closing track - see you in the next one (have a good time) - is a favorite.

thunderheist

been listening to these guys a bunch of late. the vid that won the contest thunderheist put together for 'jerk it' is pretty hypnotic...and disturbing. directed by that go.

and go go go go on and give suenos dulces a listen...nice rework of sweet dreams
